Differences of single-phase gel polish from three-phase

Each girl seeks to care for her hands, and the key to success in this matter is a beautiful and stylish manicure. To date, this has not become difficult at all, since gel varnishes have appeared in our lives that allow us to keep a manicure in perfect irresistible form for a sufficiently long time.

For coating nails with gel polish, there are single-phase, two-phase and three-phase systems.

They have significant differences, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. What is the difference between single-phase gel polish and three-phase gel? We will try to understand.

General characteristics of coatings

Single-phase systems have a combined structure, which consists of a coloring pigment, base and finish. The coating has a liquid consistency.

Three-phase systems are sold in 3 separate bottles.

Each varnish performs its own separate function: the base provides a tight coupling of the color coating with the nail plate, a transparent finish (top) gives strength and fixes the manicure.

The main difference between three-phase and single-phase gel varnishes is that in the first, for each layer its own separate means is allocated for the correct and high-quality manicure. In single-phase systems, the coating combines all of these components at once.

You will learn more about what single-phase and two-phase gels are in the next video.

Let us consider in more detail each of the systems.

Single phase

This type of coating is more suitable for beginners who are just starting to learn and practice in various techniques of manicure.

The advantage of single-phase gel varnishes is that there is no need to purchase many tools and materials, and also it is not necessary to perform coating in several layers. All this reduces the cost of coverage. In addition, it is very simple to use such a coating - it is no longer necessary to delve into complex technologies for applying three-phase coatings.

Another advantage is the speed of manicure, with single-phase gels, work is less time consuming.

The disadvantage of single-phase systems is the fact that it is impossible to achieve the formation of an ideal marigold. This is due to the fact that this type of coating already initially contains a mixture of layers that were conceived completely different in their tasks and structure.

These mandatory layers include:

  1. strengthening primer - liquid, quickly and efficiently absorbed;
  2. modeling layer - durable, with its help creates the perfect shape of the nail;
  3. protective layer - allows you to extend the period of wearing manicure.

In single-phase gels, the first two layers are mixed, which in itself worsens the properties of each phase. And the third protective layer in them is completely absent, which makes the manicure not so durable. The maximum wearing period for this coating is two weeks. And it also happens that gel polish begins to crack much earlier - often this happens when the girl’s nails are long or they have a soft structure. But this problem has its own solution - to prevent cracking and the rapid appearance of chips can be done by applying a special top-coat, which is intended for use with single-phase gel varnishes.

Another disadvantage of single-phase systems - gel polish can drain, and this, in turn, slows down the process of modeling the nail, and the result is not too uniform.

It is worth noting another drawback - the inability to perform complex nail designs. This is due to the fact that in single-phase gels there is no sticky layer, which means that it will be almost impossible to decorate the nail in some original way.

All the advantages of such systems will definitely please novice masters, however, clients are unlikely to agree with such significant shortcomings.

Biphasic

When performing this type of manicure, the nails are first treated with a base, which must be dried in an ultraviolet lamp, and after that a modeling layer is applied.

Three phase

The three-phase system differs from the two-phase application of the final gel, which is necessary to remove the sticky layer. This gel accelerates the work process and performs a protective function against external aggressive factors.

In general, the sequence of work with three-phase gel varnishes looks like this:

  1. We perform a manicure (attach the shape to the nails, remove and move the cuticle), degrease the surface of the nails.
  2. We apply the base and dry it in an ultraviolet or LED lamp
  3. We apply the first layer of color gel polish and dry in a lamp. If necessary, repeat the application of color layers, each of them at the same time do not forget to dry well.
  4. Remove the sticky layer.
  5. We apply a top coat (finish) and again dry in a lamp.

A clear advantage of a three-phase coating is its resistance to external influences and durability. Updating your manicure will need to be much less. This effect is provided by the use of the base and finish. It is they that tightly fasten together all the coating components with the nail plate.

In addition to its durability, this coating also provides an attractive glossy sheen thanks to the top layer.

The entire period of wear (and it lasts an average of 3 weeks, and sometimes longer), the coating does not deform, and the original color does not fade.

And of course, all fashionistas will be pleased with the fact that when using multiphase systems, you can safely use all kinds of decorative elements in nail design, they will hold well, as they will be tightly sealed in the coating layers.

The disadvantages of three-phase gel varnishes include the financial side of the issue, since more money will need to be invested to purchase them. At one time, you need to immediately buy 3 bottles for coating instead of one.

Another factor that is also worth considering is the duration of the manicure. In the case of three-phase gels, work will definitely take longer.

It is also worth noting that only a professional master can cope with the manicure procedure using three-phase gel varnishes, since its application is a very complex procedure that requires certain experience, knowledge and technology. If you select gel polish for independent home use, it is best for these purposes to stop your choice after all on single-phase products.

Please note that no matter which tool you choose, you must pay attention to the quality of the material. And to distinguish this is easiest by smell - in the quality coatings there is no any sharp unpleasant aroma. If there is no pungent odor, it means that there are no dangerous components in the composition that adversely affect human health.

Having studied the information on the differences and features of single-phase and three-phase gel polishes, you can easily make a decision and make a choice in favor of one of the tools.
